La Lanterna opens up on to the marina of Riomaggiore just a few steps from the sea the bounty of which determines our menu. The building in which it is housed was witness to Ariadeno Barbarossa's pirates naval battles with Doria Though, its limited size can be explained by its centuries old roots, a sense of weathered harmony is conferred, forged by time and sea salt. Once it was a place where anchovies were salted, then a dancehall and now the restaurant it is today. It was an outdoor patio and a slightly larger lounge, accommodating seventeen tables.
